Shelly devised the film during her time as Associate Artist at The Place, the UK’s premier centre for contemporary dance. It is the third in her ‘backwards series’. To devise the film Shelly worked with her performers to explore the creative potential of clingfilm. As one of Shelly’s early experimental works, we see the traversing line between choreography, narrative and clingfilm sculptures being explored, free of conscious control and convention. A CH4 commission made for the programme ‘4Dance’ produced by MJW productions. Nominated for the ‘IMZ Best Choreography on Screen Award’ and featured in the British Council’s release of ‘Forward Motion’ a collection of outstanding British screen dance works. |
